V Rising: How to Find and Beat Winged Horror

Apr 16, 2023

This detailed walkthrough will help players find and beat Winged Horror in V Rising.

Developed by Stunlock Studios, V Rising is a survival game that begins with a vampire waking up after a centuries-long sleep in an open world with the objective of hunting, surviving, building castles, and defeating its enemies.

Like any other RPG, V Rising puts players against deadly villains called V Blood Bosses. Taking down these bosses helps players progress through the game and expands their armory by unlocking new vampire abilities and magic spells to be used in the future. One of these V Blood Bosses is the Winged Horror. This article covers everything players need to find and beat Winged Horror in V Rising.

The Winged Horror is a level 83 boss in the V Rising world. It carries a Soul Shard, making it only the third of its kind. A Soul Shard is a valuable asset with a variety of difficult power boosts and can only be obtained by defeating the boss who possesses it. As the name indicates, Winged Horror has the ability to fly, besides breathing fire and launching fireballs. The long health bar of the boss combined with the Frost Vortex spell makes it a formidable opponent.

Winged Horror resides at the summit of the Dreaded Peak, a mountain located at the eastern border of the Farbane Woods. Since the mountaintop presents little to no shade, it is recommended to attack the boss at night to avoid sunlight. The Winged Horror will be denoted by a white pillar on the map, a symbol universal for all the Soul Shard Bosses. However, this tracking only works if the player has crafted the Eye of Twilight, a crucial item for locating bosses in V Rising.

The Winged Horror has two very different debuffs, one being the Chaos attack causing fire damage, and the second being the Frost Attack involving Crystal Lance icicles, causing the player to slow down.

Winged Horror can unleash fire breath on its opponent, causing severe burning damage. The fire breath can also char the ground, making it impossible for players to walk on it without receiving damage.

Chaos Orbs are one of the deadliest tools of the Winged Horror. Coming in pairs, these orbs cause a five-minute fire debuff.

Alternatively, the boss can begin to spin and launch icicles all around itself, making it hard for the player to dodge him.

The special magical ability of the Winged Horror is to bring about a frost blizzard, causing the ice debuff to the player.

Defeating the Winged Horror will unlock the following rewards:

Soul Shard of the Winged Horror, when acquired, can give the players a 2-hour buff of +50 fire resistance, +50 silver resistance, +10 spell power, and +5% spell critical strike rate. After collecting it, players should take it back to their castle. Frost Vortex, on the other hand, is a magical ability to create frost storms. It is originally possessed by the Winged Horror, and slaying him transfers it to players.

V Rising is available on PC.
