Resident Evil Village Walkthrough: Part Two
Castle Dimitrescu is often considered the most memorable part of the game. Maybe that's because so many gamers find themselves lost inside its walls.
After getting acquainted with the village and figuring out a few puzzles, Resident Evil Village then unleashes its toughest challenge of the entire game. The puzzles are only somewhat complex, but considering that Ethan is being chased by a bloodthirsty family, gamers have only a limited time to figure them out. Follow that up with a boss fight where players haven't had the time or money to buy elite weapons yet and it can spell disaster.

Gamers who are looking to get through the story of Resident Evil Village should start here. This guide is purely to get through the main story; completionists who are looking for all the secrets and collectibles will want to explore a bit in each area.
For gamers that haven't reached this area yet, please consider starting with the walkthrough for the last section.
Go up the three stairs to a mural and head through the door on the left.
Head down the flight of stairs and take the door directly in front of them.
Go right and into a large foyer. On the left, find what appears to be a front door and interact with it.

This triggers a cutscene that will transport Ethan to another room.
Grab the salve on the table next to a decorative plate.
Turn around and exit out of the white and gold doors.
What appears to be a shuttered fireplace is actually a secret tunnel. Crawl inside and take the only path forward.
Eventually, the way is blocked by a stone carving. Take the Maroon Eye Ring from the finger. Open the "Key Items" menu and examine the ring. When facing the ring to "look" directly at Ethan, players will get a prompt to remove the Maroon Eye from the ring. Do so. Meanwhile, the statue will turn and allow Ethan to exit into a hallway.
Shimmy by the carving and go left, through the double doors. This returns Ethan to the foyer from earlier.
This time, go up the main set of stairs on the left and into a room with an ornate chandelier.
Make an immediate right and unlock the door next to the lit candles. However, don't go through this door just yet.
Turn back around and go up the staircase facing Ethan.
At the top, Ethan will be facing a door. Instead of going through it, look to the right and find a hallway draped with curtains. Go this way instead.
Follow the hallway as it hooks right. On the left side, spot another carving on the wall, this time of wood. Note that the terrified individual is missing an eye. Use the Maroon Eye in the inventory and place it into the sculpture. Doing this turns her into a door that Ethan can now pass through. This will trigger another cutscene.
This begins the portion of the game where Ethan must defeat all three of the daughters to progress. From the cutscene, go down the hall toward a wooden door with a golden emblem on it. Instead of going through this door, take a left, then spot a white door on the left side to go through.
In this room, there is a wooden barrier blocking a hallway in the back. Break it down and enter.

There is only one way forward and that is crashing down through some more wooden planks.
Keep going until reaching what appears to be a dead end. Duck down, look left, and spot an opening through the bricks to crawl through.
Thankfully, Lady Dimitrescu leaves the room before spotting Ethan. Look right from the exit that she takes and spot another tunnel. Go that way.
This ends in a puzzle room. Here, shoot the lit brazier toward the two stands with unlit coals in them. When both are lit up, the room reveals a hidden exit.
The next room is a cellar that doubles as a prison and there are enemies present, so be ready to fire. After spotting a broken-down cart, take the prison door on the left just in front of it to go around the debris blocking the way.
Hug the wall on the right and eventually spot some soft light after turning the corner. Follow it and take the stairway up.
Avoid the gate in front of Ethan and take the hallway on the right side next to it.
Make a U-turn by hugging that right wall and enter a room with iron bars and a missing door. Go left, toward the yellow light, and through a hole. Make another U-turn, this time toward the left.
Exit the cellar through a staircase entrance marked with two torches on either side.
At the top of the stairs, go right and find yet another boarded-up cave entrance. Bust it down and head on through. This triggers another cutscene and a fight with the first of the daughters, Bela.
Shoot her into the wind, then turn around and exit through an iron gate while she screams.
This leads to a room that has a gold-trimmed bottle resting in a metal tub. Pick up the Sanguis Virginis.
When facing the tub, look right and go toward a room with a bookcase in it.
Look immediately left and spot a yellow door. Go through it.
Turn right and spot a wooden double door with white paneling. Unlock them and exit this way.
Now Ethan is back in the chandelier room. Head back up the steps and take the door at the top instead of the hallway.
Spot a golden statue on the right side of the room. Place the Sanguis Virginis on it and wait for the secret door to open up.
Go to the right and find a lockbox between a bottle and candelabra. Open it and snag the Courtyard Key.
Go back into the chandelier room, back down the stairs, U-turn left, and enter the door directly under the door at the top of the steps.
On the far side of this room, there are some dark iron doors with gold lion heads on them. Use the Courtyard Key and enter.
Go down the stairs, underneath the gazebo, up the opposite stairs, and turn right.
Spot a door with a single torch in front of it and exit this way.
Take the stairway up and follow the hallway for a while.
Don't take any doors until spotting a plain wood door by some lit candles on the left. Go inside.
This is the infamous Hall of Ablution statue puzzle. Solve the puzzle by facing the statues in the correct directions.
This will drain the pool, allowing Ethan to take a hidden staircase downward.
There is only one way forward, so continue down the corridor for a while. Enemies will pop out of the liquid right under Ethan's feet, so be quick on the trigger. Eventually, this leads to a staircase with a trail of blood. Take this to exit the fracas.
Pull on the yellow circlet to be transported by elevator to the exterior of the castle. Follow the path forward, hit a cutscene, then continue forward.
Spot a gold and white door on the left and enter.
Spot Dimitrescu's Key on a candlelit decoration on the left side of the room and take it.
Use the key on the steel and gold door in the room, just to the right of the decoration. This triggers a cutscene.
Go down the hallway and find yet another hole in the bricks. Exit into a crawlspace.
The following room has another level with yellow tape on it. Pull it and exit through the metal bars that open up.
Head to the right and spot another lever at the end of the hall. Pulling it yields a cutscene. After this cutscene, Lady Dimitrescu will attack Ethan. She cannot be killed currently, so simply dodge her attacks and then interact with the lever again. It doesn't look possible, but the bars open just enough for Ethan to climb through.
Go left and down the hallway, toward the lone torch. At the end of the hall, make a right turn to go down the stairs. At the bottom is a door that requires Dimitrescu's Key. Open it up.
Inside, grab the Mask of Sorrow from the statue. This will be used to solve the four angel mask puzzle back in the foyer. Stay still for a moment and be lifted by a secret elevator that Ethan and the statue are on. This returns back to the gazebo.
Ethan will be facing the exact wrong way that he needs to go at the top. Turn around and go through another door that requires Dimitrescu's Key. Enemies will start attacking in the courtyard going forward, so watch out for them.
Go up the stairs.
At the top of the stairs, look left and find a yellow door. Take it.
Ethan will be up at the level of a few chandeliers. Exit on the far side, just past them, then go down the stairs.
Interact with the Piano and begin the Piano Puzzle that yields the Iron Insignia Key. Hit the keys correctly and then grab the key as it pops out of the piano. Head back up the stairs Ethan used to enter the room and exit out the same yellow door Ethan used to enter the area. Lady Dimitrescu will pop out of the door when approached. As before, give her the run-around.
Continue straight and use the newly acquired Iron Insignia Key on the door dead ahead to get inside.
To dispatch Daniela, pull the gold lever on the side of the wooden pillar and shoot her into the wind.
Exit out of the double doors closest to the pillar that had the level on it.
This room has another white statue on it. Take the Mask of Joy from it.
When players take the Mask of Joy, the metallic door to its left will open. Go through for another puzzle room.
Ethan has to shoot the five bells in the Atelier.
The gigantic portrait will open, revealing a secret hallway. Take it.
Exit up the ladder with some yellow paint on it.
Continue dead ahead until there is no way forward, then look left and take an open door to the castle exterior.
Turn right and beware of the gargoyles. Eventually, Ethan will face a slanted rooftop. Go on top and down the other side.
Look right to find a staircase. Take it up.
At the top, go to the opposite side and find a makeshift zipline. Take it down.
This ends at another marble statue. Predictably, it has another mask on it, this time, it's the Mask of Rage. The only way out from here is through a hole with a ladder on it.
This room has an elevator in it. Press the button to open the door, then press the button to go downward.
Exit and follow the hallway into a room. The correct exit to take it directly in front of Ethan, by some lit candles.
This time, instead of trying to get by Lady Dimitrescu, head to the right into the hallway, past the double doors, and back into the chandelier room.
Go back up the stairs, turn right down the curtained hallways, and return to the statue that required the Maroon Eye. Enter for a second time.
This time, use Dimitrescu's Key on the door inside. This is the location of the Mask of Pleasure, the final mask needed for the puzzle in the foyer.
Look to the right and spot an exit inside of the fireplace. Take this route.
Continue up the stairs and into a room with a cabinet that has some yellow tape on one side. Cassandra will begin her attack at this stage. Interact with the cabinet, shoot the bricks in the wall to create some wind, then, like the daughters before, shoot Cassandra into the wind to kill her.
Grab the Mounted Animal Skull from inside of this room before taking off. Interact with it, flip it over, then interact with it once again the separate the skull from the mount.
Spot a door of iron bars leading to a cellar. Exit and head down the stairs to return to the Mask of Pleasure room.
Interact with the place where the Mask of Pleasure was taken and put the Animal Skull on it. This opens the locked door blocking the return to the chandelier room. Go back into the chandelier room, down the stairs, and into the foyer.
Now it's time to put the masks back. From left to right, the order is:
This opens the front door that leads to a large castle spire. Go straight ahead and open the coffin inside. Take the dagger from the body and trigger a cutscene.
It's time to defeat the first major boss of the game, Lady Dimitrescu. Players should check out that guide if they're struggling, but the key is to climb the tower upward and keep shooting her in the head. This is not to be confused with the head of the dragon, but her actual head, sticking out of the dragon's back.
After the cutscene, grab the greenish bottle on the altar. Picking up the Dirty Flask opens a door that goes back outside.
There is only one way out. Follow the cave system and open the door, triggering another cutscene.
Turn around after the cutscene and find a lockbox with the Winged Key on an altar. Pick it up, then go past the altar and use the WInged Key on the wooden door with bones on it. Go up the stairway and pull the lever at the top to exit out of the door.
Make a slight left and follow the lynched bodies. Open the wooden door blocking the way and approach the stone stands. This triggers a cutscene with the Duke.
The winged door just to the right of the Duke when facing him is the right way to go. Use the Winged Key, then shoot the lock on the red door in front and pass through that doorway as well.
Now Ethan is back in the village. Go straight forward, past a statue in a common area, and look for the house on the left. Take the stairway outside that leads from the ground to the inside.
Go through the house and undo the bolt locking the door from the inside. Then head outside and go right.
Spot a cabinet with some yellow tape on it. Grab it to reveal an exit. Be warned, there are enemies present here.
There is a tractor blocking the way. Make a mental note of its location, Ethan will be returning here soon. For now, go left
Shoot the lock off of the large white gate and keep progressing forward.
Enter the shack on the left and look out the window to get the code for the workshop safe inside. Or just get the code from this guide right here.
Inside, pick up the jack handle and return to the tractor.
Use the jack handle on the tractor, then crawl underneath when it is high enough. Follow the road and toss a piper bomb over the wooden wall on the left side. This will clear out the debris blocking the door, also on the left side, inside of a shack. Go through the bricks and use the door.
Go left and past some chicken in an abandoned coop. In this area, find a ladder against a blue house that gets to the roof and climb it. There is a large hole in this roof, drop down to get inside of this building.
Inside, there is a white lockbox. Open it up and get both the instructions for the WInged Key and a piece to add to the Winged Key.
Exit out of the blue door and then once again out of the blueish-green gate.
Return to the Duke, who has not moved since he and Ethan last spoke. To get to him, take the path just slightly left, up the hill, and past the red gate that Ethan shot open.
After a cutscene, Ethan will receive the Four-Winged Key. Look left and find some wooden double doors with four wings. That key will be used now and it will begin the section that deals with House Beneviento.
