For more than two millennia, the mausoleum of Rome's first emperor, Caesar Augustus, has stood sentry over the Eternal City's Campo Marzio district. In 2021, the monument reopened to the public after more than a decade of closure for restorations. The mausoleum's external areas and gardens as well as the surrounding Piazza Augusto Imperatore are also being redesigned. And now one of the piazza's prominent neighbors is poised for renewal as the Bulgari Hotel Roma opens there this month.
