Mayfield, Peterson Massey lead first slack

The Red Bluff Roundup started on Wednesday with the first round of Slack competition. Shad Mayfield finished first in the tie-down roping event, while Hagen Peterson and Caleb Hendrix took first in the team roping and Dalton Massey took Steer Wrestling.

The second round of the tie-down, team roping, and steer wrestling took place during slack on Thursday. After the average (the fastest time on two heads) has been determined, the top 24 in each of those three events will advance to competition during the Round-Up on April 21-22, with the fastest 12 from April 21-22 competing on April 23.

The women's breakaway roping slack was also held on April 20, with the women's barrel racing slack on Friday. The fastest 36 cowgirls in each event advance to the performances April 21-23.
